This is how she described in e-mail :

"......
Meibomian Gland Dysfunction  is the diagnosis. Which means the oil that comes out of my eyelids near the eyelashes is not runny but has turned buttery (solidified) without this runny oil covering the water on your eyes the water evaporates easily and hence dry eyes.  But I also developed  severe pain in the eyes including burning as if my eyes were on fire, eyelashes felt brittle and when touching my skin felt like needles were poking in. If a strand of hair fell on my facial area It was painful. Extreme light sensitivity, could not watch tv or look at computer screen, very dry eyes it felt like my eyes were wide open and someone had a hairdryer and was blowing into my eyes. My eyes were so dry that all day I would have to turn on the warm water and splash my eyes just for a moments relief often in 20 minute intervals all day. Pain all around my eye sockets ears, jaw.

Extreme aching in eyes like someone was standing on my eyelids and pressing down. Swelling of the eyelids which hurt and made me continuously rub my eyelids......"
